The Story of Harry Bosch

When we meet Harry Bosch for the first time, he is a LAPD Detective solving crimes. All began for him with the case The Black Echo.

A loner and a nighthawk, Harry Bosch gets a call-out on his pager one sunday. body has been found in a drainage tunnel off Mulholland Drive, Hollywood. At first sight, it looks like a routine drugs overdose case, but the one new puncture wound amid the scars of old tracks leaves Bosch unconvinced.

To make matters worse, Harry Bosch recognises the victim. Billy Meadows was a fellow ‘tunnel rat’ in Vietnam, running against the VC and the fear they all used to call the Black Echo. Bosch believes he let down Billy Meadows once before, so now he is determined to bring the killer to justice.

Yes and No. Each book can be read independently of the other, meaning you can read the series out of order. If some background information is needed, Michael Connelly fills you in.

Yes! Harry Bosch has been adapted for television with Titus Welliver playing the main role. Bosch, The television series aired on the Amazon streaming service from 2014 to 2021. It consists of seven seasons, with a total of 68 episodes.

Soon after the end of the series, a spin-off series was announced, following Harry Bosch in his new professional career. The show now titled Bosch: Legacy is aired on Amazon Freeve since 2022.

About Michael Connelly

A short biography

Michael Connelly is a best-selling American author of detective novels and crime fiction. He first worked as a journalist, where he wrote about police and crime during the cocaine wars of the 1980s in Florida. He was nominated for a Pulitzer prize as part of the team who covered the 1985 crash of Delta Flight 131.

In his free time, he was writing fiction. After two half-finished manuscripts, The Black Echo became his first published novel in 1992. Connelly wrote three more novels with Harry Bosch before quitting his job to become a full-time novelist.

He has now more than 35 books published and also works in film and television, recently as an executive producer on Bosch.

Beyond Harry Bosch: the other heroes of Michael Connelly

Michael Connelly is famous for writing Harry Bosch, but also for the criminal defense attorney Mickey Haller, half-brother of Bosch. He has been portrayed in the past by Matthew McConaughey. Manuel Garcia-Rulfo plays the character in a recent television series called The Lincoln Lawyer.

Michael Connelly also wrote books featuring journalist Jack McEvoy and Los Angeles detective Renée Ballard. They both have appeared in the Bosch book series.
